Ty Hotel | Milford Haven

An inviting space to dwell, both for hotel guests and the local community.

Novell Tullett has been dedicated to the evolution of the Port of Milford Haven for over a decade, contributing significantly to the masterplan and the emergence of its initial built phase.

Located along the busy harbour front, Ty Hotel is the first development to be completed within the Waterfront masterplan. The plaza adjoining it enjoys a unique position, with Milford Haven Museum just across the road and panoramic views over the harbour to Haken. Positioned strategically along Nelson Quay, this space, though modest in size, currently lacks spatial coherence. Recognising the opportunity to enhance its functionality, our design endeavours to transform it into an inviting place to dwell, both for hotel guests and the local community.

A new sheltered dining area will overlook the harbour while a green-roofed canopy beside the airstream bar will allow groups of friends to linger, no matter what the weather.  A new seating space allowing groups of people to sit together through the evening will be framed by a planted setting, formed by salt-tolerant plants selected so that the scheme will thrive within the maritime climate.

In response to diverse user needs, our design ensures that everyone can have access across the site with sustainable methods of transport – walkers and cyclists finding a welcome place to rest in the new space.
