Pedestrian friendly square and park makes space for community

Redevelopment of a former GLC Housing Estate in North London in line with the Colindale Area Action Plan. The existing estate was designed using Radburn principles, the resulting segregation of pedestrian/vehicular traffic and inward facing facades had contributed to the estate becoming undesirable and its subsequent decline.

Novell Tullett worked with a team of architects led by Jestico + Whiles to provide the design for the public and private external realm for phase 1B. This included the pedestrian area of the highway, the main square, a park, parking courts and play areas.

Key features

  • Public and private external realm

  • Pedestrian friendly environment

  • Inviting and playful greenspace
