Environmental friendly planting and irrigation system
Novell Tullett was commissioned to design the landscape scheme for the British Embassy in Oman. The scheme comprised public and private gardens, linked by access routes, parking, and leisure facilities that included a shaded swimming pool and tennis court. The planting was designed to frame the spaces and shelter them from wind and heat. The main views to the mountains were the focus of the central lawn, while cooling water features within the gardens and building loggias helped to reinforce the Moorish influences.
The scheme was designed using palms and other climate appropriate planting that was supported by an irrigation system. This was particularly important for the lawned areas, which create the setting for the embassy offices. Green roofs were specified for several of the accommodation buildings.
