Nature trail gives access to lake
Having received Heritage Lottery Funding, Novell Tullett was appointed by Wessex Water to design and build a public footpath around local beauty spot, Backwell Lake, to increase its leisure potential. We designed a meandering resin-bound circular path with small bridges over ditches, passing places and a viewing platform to allow the waterside to be enjoyed by walkers, cyclists and families all year round.
There was considerable collaboration with HLF, the Drainage Board and ecologists to ensure the path was fit for purpose, ecologically sensitive and did not obstruct other maintenance works. We successfully ran the tender and oversaw construction on site.
