Highly acclaimed council offices and external space
Novell Tullett designed the external realm for this scheme in Keynsham to redevelop the Civic Centre, which has won many accolades including the British Council for Offices’ Best of the Best award 2015.
“Chosen from the national winners this award is true testimony to the vision shown by the project team,” said the judges.
They commented that the scheme clearly served the local community because about 50% of the site was given to the public realm.
“The orientation and layout of the building creates a well integrated streetscape whilst adding valuable retail and amenity space to stimulate the revival of the High Street.”
Novell Tullett’s concept for the site made strong connections not only to the High Street, but also to the Park in the adjoining Chew Valley.
It successfully unites the Riverside leisure centre into the design proposals for new council offices, market square, shops and library, and the scheme, with LHR (formerly Aedas) Architects, won the commission for the project against strong local competition.
